how do I upload images to instagram?
-
Hi Dottyp!
Yes, you cannot upload from PC. Instagram is strange like that. Think of Instagram as a point of origin... You can't cross post or repost(easily) to or from other platforms using Instagram... however...
You can use apps to get your posts ready FOR instagram.
This is how I do it...
I use another app to take my instagram photos so I can add a watermark. I use ezy watermark photo...
Then I use LATER to schedule my posts. You CAN use your browser to get all this ready.
As I said, Instagram is a point of origin.
IF you have scheduled a post using something like LATER (which I use, you can use hootsuite or something else), then the APP will notify you, then copy and paste the image and all the writing you put in (including hashtags) into Instagram.
Be sure if you have more than one instagram account to be in the right account.
I hope I helped...
Regards,
Felix

You can only post on Instagram from a mobile device - not from computers.
But, if you have a social media manager (Hootsuite is the one I use) you can use it to post on Instagram - it will send the post to a mobile device of your choice, where you then need to confirm the posting (either immediately or at the time you scheduled for it). -
I usually save my images into Google Drive, and then from my phone I can access drive and post from there.

Thanks so much everyone as i thought it sounds quite complicated ,I have been considering buying a tablet so I may wait for that.If I see any of your instagrams I will follow you, just so you know I am the person with no images.
-
I just use my phone or my daughter's iPod (for the better camera). If I am posting a digital image like a scan or an illo I did in Photoshop, I email it to my Yahoo account, download it to my phone, then post from my phone

Actually you can upload images to Instagram from your computer using the Windows 10 app. I've done it before, though I prefer uploading them to Google Drive and using my phone/tablet.

Hi guys thanks for all the responses, you will probably laugh when I tell you I do not have a mobile phone or ipod,or windows 10 either after reading this I think I need to get up to date(but I still wont buy a mobile phone)Anyway thanks for your efforts to drag me into the 21st century LOL.

@dottyp I've not tried to post from a computer, but there do seem to be possible workarounds that might allow you to do so:
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-post-to-instagram-from-a-computer/
I tried to post a screengrab below but got a privilege error for some reason, so I put the screengrab in a post on my blog for you:

As I said, I didn't post, but clicking the camera does open a window for me to choose something to upload, so I'm supposing it works. Just not sure if you can add descriptions, tags, etc...
(Also, do a Google search on "post to instagram from pc")

When you follow the link @QuietYell posted, its possible, I have used it and it works fine.

-
@leontine What size image are you trying to upload? Also which icon are you clicking on "Upload Image" or "Upload File"
-
@chip-valecek Really small 73KB. JPG neither PNG. I get a note that 'I don't have permission'. Normally I never have problems uploading files on this forum.
-
I upload my images through "Gramlr"
just google Gramblr you'll find a link to download it.
Once downloaded, sign in with your insta account, and you are ready to go. -
@quietyell I think I have got it working Thanks so much for the information the whole thing had me baffled.
-
@doha Thanks Doha I think I got it working with quiet yells trick ,but thanks anyway.
-
@dottyp That's awesome! So glad you can post from your computer with this way. It's a lot cheaper than buying a phone/tablet just to do it!
-
@quietyell Thanks I should be getting some stuff posted soon.
-
@quietyell fantastic! I didnt know this, since I'm a chrome user:
Chrome
In Chrome, go to Instagram.com and sign in. Now right-click the page > Inspect > click the Tablet icon (top-left). The page should switch to mobile view, where you'll find a camera button at the bottom of the screen, which lets you upload a photo from your desktop. It's that easy? I always put it in a concept mail, then opened it on my ipad and then post. This is so much easier! Thanks!

@dennis-spaans Yes! This was a delightful surprise to me too! Glad it will help you!
