NOVEMBER CONTEST: SLOWVEMBER
-
The challenge is to make something you love, for your portfolio. Any subject matter, any media! This month will use the sweet 16 bracket to pick the winner.

Couple of details:
The contest is open to anyone. But the winners and runners up will only be selected from active SVS members.
Post only finished pieces here. Post WIP projects in their own thread.
Put your real name and forum name on the image somewhere (can be on a border if you like).
Good luck everyone!

Super fun challenge this month! Looking forward to it!!
Quick question: how will the sweet 16 bracket be applied to this contest? Will the winners of each round be publicly announced or will it be mostly an evaluation tool for the jury? -
What is the sweet 16 bracket?
-
-
The judges select 16 pieces from all the entries. Then during the critique arena they put them up randomly against each other in a bracket form. Then the viewers vote on who will move on to the next round.
-
@Chip-Valecek interesting so viewers do you mean the judges or do you mean like audience members
-
@Aleksey the audience members. They did this on the last one. If you are subscribed you can watch it here https://courses.svslearn.com/courses/critique-arena
-
@Chip-Valecek ohhh ok. I excited. I might participate in this months if I have time in between work and class. If not Iโll save it for next time
Thanks chip

This sounds amazing. I've already started my Slovember and was hoping to have time to do the contest this month too. I am so happy Slowember and the contest are combined so it is truly doable. Cannot wait to see everyones!

Post-by deadline still the last day of the month?
-
@Aaron_T correct!
-
I know this is supposed to last all month long but due to family and school constraints, I am having to go ahead and submit. I did spend time researching the elements and working through thumbnails and getting a little critique help from the forums. To be fair I did quite a bit of character development for these characters that I have dubbed the Ink Mice during Inktober. I also did quite a bit of inking and coloring practice to develop this particular style. So without further ado here is a Christmas card cover: The Three Wise Mice!
-
This looks excellent @chrisaakins ! All the development you did in October was well spent
-
@Zachary-Drenski Thanks! My goal for the month was to be able to create a digital image that looks traditionally done. I am really pleased with the results.
-
@chrisaakins mission accomplished!

I ended up reposting because I canโt stop fiddling with it but I just need to stop now haha! Iโve been focusing in improving my fundamentals and was really focusing on values in this one, but it was a big struggle and took forever because I couldnโt stop fussing with it
-
@anya-macleod rather than deleting you can go back in and edit your post. Took me a few minutes to learn that.
And your illustration looks lovely. I love the color palette.
-
@anya-macleod beautiful illustration I love the colours!
-
@chrisaakins oh cool thankyou will know for next time
-
@Inge-Permentier thankyou! I've been focusing lately on colours, my colours always felt disjointed since I changed to digital
