Paisley is 5 years old. Her monster had big, sharp teeth (snake teeth), big mouth, long arms and scaley, big feet that go stomp, stomp! A hairy big belly.

i loved this class, its awesome:-) Your drawing looks as if you paid attention to the class 😉 I would probably just add right paw to the rabbit. I know its hidden behind left one, but i wonder if it could show a bit, or maybe he could hold a whip or smth? 😉

And another one. This is my favourite so far - not too far from my usual, just less cleaned up and a simpler rendering. Too rough?

Great concept - reminds me of Dr. Suess's moose story, Thidwick, the Big-hearted Moose - Especially the expression on the tree - Love it!

@cowboyseth It depends. SketchUp has a large community of people who make and upload models for everyone to share (especially furniture and construction businesses do that as a way to promote their products) - so very often you can kitbash another model, or build the room (which takes less than 5 minutes) and then put in the furniture you need from the model library. It if is a fancier environment or machine with lots of fantasy elements, I normally just block in the volumes with basic shapes and go from there - it is then more to know where everything is and keep it consistent.
The most complex model I built was a student´s room with kitchenette for a short graphic novel that had only one location (so I had to draw it from half a hundred different viewpoints) - that took about a day of work but also used about 20-30 models from the library (I even put in the dirty plates in the sink). Normally, a rough model would take less than an hour of work. For the classroom, I just used an existing classroom model and changed the position of the chairs, added computers and gave the room a different shape - definitely less than an hour.
It is important to say that Sketchup models are very "stiff". They are wonderful for viewing a place from different angles and sorting out the position of things in multiple panels or illustrations, but not as a direct reference - otherwise your drawings look like architectural renders. Normally, I draw my own grid using the Sketchup model as reference, mark out the position of things and then draw free, using the grid and all the other references needed. But the time saving in figuring out positions and distances is enormous!

your description is very vague, but there are aluminum plates that are being used in the printing industry, that you can expose images onto too. i guess if you wanted instead of printing from it, you could roll it up with ink and use that as the end point as well. http://www.takachpress.com/access/litho.htm

I think it all comes from you. You can take classes in person here and there, and learn online. there are many places, in addition to here that teach classes online. and schoolism has in person classes around the world as well. I learned art in a traditional sense, and more specifically fine art printmaking, and am now shifting to illustration myself after 10 years. The thing that will make you stand out from the crowd is practice, practice, practice. it is up to you, if you have the self discipline to do it on your own, or if you need to be in a class setting to do it. Most of us are not able to take off and go back to school, so the best thing is to learn from several others and then incorporate all that knowledge into who you are and into your style. and you don't know what your style is until you start drawing for yourself. 🙂

Its very sweet. i would also darken the foreground items more, and think about their shapes. when i opened the page, it looked like hunched over wolves to me that had been partially cut off from the image. maybe if those trees are much closer, the trees need to be bigger too?

Hi, I looked up briefly what was 'kaiju' and tried to draw one 😉 I think that is my first monster ever! Can't wait to show it to my kids, when they come back from school 😉
