Cool idea! Here's some I know.

Squint your eyes, to see the value in your drawings. if things become blurred together, they are too close in value.

Internal Colored Lineart - coloring all lineart takes way too long, but if you only color the lineart on the inside of things (like the internal finger outlines on a hand drawing) then it can look really cool!

Shape Design - if somethings hard to shape, if you draw varying connected triangles, big medium and small ones. That can help you shape it well. Ethan Becker on Youtube has some videos about this.

@Nathalie-Kranich are you based in Germany? Try to see if there is a graphic arts or illustration association that helps freelance artists to deal with contracts. I know one in the country I am resident of here in Norway, and I can consult their lawyer if I have questions regarding contracts with he local publishers. When I had contracts with UK publisher, they referred me to AOI (Association of Illustrators) in the UK.

Question. Are the people on that forum typically harsher in their critiques, considering they're more experienced, or is the experience actually a lot more mixed?

@erinrew I think the trees in the background and the snow rendering do not stylistically conform with your smoke and cabin rendering. They look painterly and the rest looks more patterned and line artist (which I like, BTW) I would be curious to see what would happen if you rendered them like your smoke and kept the values the same.

@carolinebautista I am sorry to hear that you have to cancel the conference. I know the feeling that I am not ready for this. It takes wisdom and maturity to say "I need more time, and it is not healthy to rush and push too hard". Your artwork is great. Keep doing what you do.
