I just got a Serta (brand chair) for a gift and it is amazing how much better my back feels after a few hours of painting. I also stand up a lot when I'm doing rough sketches on my tablet ( I also have a standing desk which is great for switching it up after sitting for a few hours)
Thanks @Gary-Wilkinson ! It's definitely a learning process!! All these little tips are really helpful (and I'm going to go through the Photoshop classes on SVS--I just wanted to use it to clean up a drawing I did for class and not have to re-draw it).
Thanks, @Chip-Valecek I should ask them--I just wondered if there is a proper protocol for this sort of thing. I hope they did sell and help the cause!
Also, @Lee-White walks you through what his daily schedule can look like in his class "How to Make Money in Illustration". It's three parts, can't remember offhand which part it's in but I recommend the class.
@marsha-kay-ottum-owen That's a good idea too! I dont really have any action shots at all... Its a weird challenge to do so many illustrations when the text for the book is about 5 lines long. 🙂 Thank you for your encouragement too!! I just watched a class where Will and Jake were talking about how a common mistake is not making characters cute enough for children's books. That makes me feel like I'm kinda going in the right direction.
@laurel-aylesworth I have one that I use all the time from Aaron Blaise. I believe if you sign up for his newsletter you get access to it. I got when I purchased a course from him.
@lisa-f Tips on hardware and software, contacts (editors, art directors), kid lit and illustration contests, tips on traditional materials, downloads and plug ins for illustration software, not sure how you'd decide the criteria for what everyone wants to see but these are just some that came to mind.
I can confirm as a developer that we hate IE or what is now called edge. I am not surprised it does not work. I have many applications that will not work with IE, a lot of the code libraries out there do not work with IE. I wish Microsoft would just let it die already.
Re: How do I import pictures to the forum?
I read in the forum somewhere, that if you are using microsoft edge that it doesn't work. You could try using Chrome to open SVS and then enter the forum. Click on the thread titled January Fearless. It is the one that has the instructions and below it has the artwork of others who have entered the contest. Click on the blue reply button, click on the upload image and it and hopefully it will work from there.
