AUGUST CONTEST: Dragonfly
-
Oh wow! Such a WIDE OPEN prompt this month!!
I'm not sure whether to go literal or play to my strengths (dragons!) and do a pun on the word "dragon-fly"
There's going to be a lot to "chew" on this month and I have a feeling getting those 50 thumbnails in is going to be super easy!
-
@jsnzart I'm not necessarily a nature lover, more of an indoorsy person, but when I do get out in it I think it's beautiful. I did some research last night on the dragonfly and it's a fasinating insect. There are more ways to go with this prompt than I initially thought.
-
@deborah-Haagenson Yes.
It is a fascinating creature. And pretty amazing!And with our posts, we can see some ideas forming. You being indoorsy,...etc.
So, maybe a dragonfly flew inside and sat on something.
I don't recall ever seeing a dragonfly indoors.
So, that sounds pretty interesting.
Remember to do thumbnails, and sketch loosely(happy mistakes). And make a decision.
Don't fall in love with it.Have fun creating it. And complete it!

When I hear "Dragonfly" the first thing that comes to mind is the work of Stephanie Law. If you've never come across her work take a look, it's beautiful.
May get in on this one if I get a chance.
-
Another great one word prompt from Lee, I Love Dragonflys. Ive missed the last two but going to do my best to take part in on this one.
Good luck everyone. -
I love dragonflies! I even already had a dragonfly idea in the works, though I might try and flex my creative muscles a bit more first.
-
Fun fact: Dragonflies are part of a very small number of creatures on earth that are almost completely identical to their prehistoric ancestors for as long as we've had fossils of them!
-
Oh. wow. Dragonfly is more or less my favorite creature :-).
-
My morning began so purposefully..I was even on my way to working on this months prompt. Research side track->> wow.

Thank you for the suggestion; she has gorgeous work. It sort of reminds me of Trina Shart Hyman and James Browne.

@djlambson Woah, thatβs very cool! Interesting information and a great resource for dragonfly movement studies. Thanks for sharing Iβm in the research stage for this prompt so I expect I might end up spiralling into a bit of distraction tornado myself today haha

James Browne
Oh nice, I like her illustrations a lot, thanks. James Browne I've been following for a while, he does some fantastic work. Stephanie's art like most peoples is even more spectacular to see in person.
-
@Blitz55 Love her!
-
I learned a few things along the way, thank you in advance for the support!

@Mary-Toth Terrific! I love the color palette and your line work is so clean while still being subtle. These kinds of images inspire me so much! Really nice work.
