I love impressionism paintings. But I never did a deep dive into how the painters from that period works with the materials and techniques. Then I came across the series of lectures produced by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

This particular one is about Materials and Techniques of the French Impressionists. There are more videos on art history from different period of time.Enjoy!

Thanks, @xin-li! This looks very interesting! Are you familiar with the Boston Painters? The are a nice link between the Impressionists and illustration. The did more precise drawing, but used Impressionist color.

@LauraA I am not familiar with the Boston painters. I followed the link you provided. Very fascinating. I am trying to take a bit of the impressionist way of color treatment into my digital painting these days. Still experimental stage.

@xin-li In addition to our own Will Terry's videos on color, the Marco Bucci video on SVS has great color, in case you haven't watched it yet. And I'm guessing you know the work of Nathan Fowkes?
Have fun with your experiments! It's great to get to the point where you have a process down and can do so!

Yeah. I think he is one of Lee's teachers at Art Center. I took a self-paced class with him at schoolism long time ago. He was talking about the value based paintings. But back then, I did not understand anything he was talking about
