      Hi everyone,

As you probably know, each month SVS features one of us students on their website with a blog post that includes an interview. The Q&A is usually pretty simple and I’m always happily surprised by how many cool stories and insights people share. It’s been a really awesome experience interviewing the featured artists (Thanks for the opportunity, SVS!), but I know I’m just one brain, and it would be a lot more interesting if many minds could help think up the interview questions.

In general, what questions would you ask the monthly featured artist? Any specific questions that you would find really interesting?

Here are examples of what’s been done with the Q&A’s so far: https://www.svslearn.com/news/category/Featured+Artist

Thanks so much for the help!!! 🙂

I would love to know if and how they have gone about getting feedback and what role this has had on their progress.

Hi @KathrynAdebayo, here’s a few questions that might help.

          1. Which 5 books have helped you develop the most as an artist? From beginner to advanced.

          2. What would you tell your former self 5 years prior knowing what you know now?

          3. When did you begin learning art seriously? For example, did you major in Art or are you getting a late start mid-to-late career?

          4. Would you recommend a mentorship (paid or free)?

          5. What advice can you share with your fellow SVS students to help them achieve their goals?

          6. Do you think Social Media has helped you progress as an artist or hinder your creativity?

          7. Who are your art heroes?

          8. If you could fast forward you life 5 years, what would you have liked to accomplish?

          9. What do you enjoy or dislike about the SVS monthly contests?

          10. If you could make one constructive change at SVS (e.g., forums, classes, contests, engagement, interactions, etc.), what would you incorporate?

          Those are my initial thoughts.

          Thanks for asking!

Since it’s a new year maybe how their art changed and what they want to work on this year, like their top 3 goals for 2021.

I’m always curious why people do art. What do they hope their art will do or become in the future, but I feel like this is abstract and tough to answer 😅

Agree @donnamakesart! I have yet to do any social media, but wonder if I’m just a dinosaur that refuses to mold to the current times. I know fans are important, but when?

It’s like playing basketball in the driveway while learning how to shoot vs. playing in front of the whole world. Maybe it’s a bad analogy...

@Jeremy-Ross Ah I get you haha. I think it’s ok to just play in the drive way as long as you enjoy what your doing though haha, but when you have something you feel the world needs to know that’s when you need to step into the stadium.

@donnamakesart This is a great idea. Thank you so much. I also have such an interest in how people's art evolves and what drives that transformation! And I'm totally into abstract, deep questions which is part of why I'm asking for help - most of what I think to ask about is personal or abstract. 🙂 I appreciate the advice you and others have given!

@Jeremy-Ross I totally hear you too! Great question! I'm going to try to ask something about social media soon if it seems relevant.
