Inktober aftermath! Lets make a showcase with all the pieces we each did! Also, thoughts on this inktober?
-
Hello guys!
Congrats to anyone who completed or participated on this inktober!
I have seen a ton of art I liked both here and on instagram! Nice!!I was thinking maybe we should share our insights!
What are your thoughts on this inktober?
Did you stay with the same characters? Same story? Same universe?Completely different stuff each day?
What do you think of this Inktober and what did you get out of it?I for one have drawn some polaroid type snaps of the adventures of my characters Edward and Ron!(created for the september challenge!)
I had real fun with them and tried to tell a story with each prompted word!
They are not in continuum, but phases from adventures they are having!
I have seen first hand how difficult it is to stay consistent when drawing the same character, but based on the feedback I got,in the end, I don't think it matters so much.Feel free to make a showcase like mine bellow so we can see all the art together!!

@Georgios-Christopoulos Wow this is amazing. The amount of work youโve done, and itโs all great. You should be very proud.
-
Well done @Georgios-Christopoulos!
Great story and love how you used the prompts to build a narrative around the Heroโs Journey!
I also admire that you chose different perspectives, camera angles, values and movement in your pieces. The story really came to life.
Any plans on trying to get it published as a graphic novel or comic?
I decided to do all traditional pieces to practice inking on paper and had a lot of fun! I used the same characters Penelope and Bunny from my September and October submission.
Funny story, I often double tapped my paper trying to undo!!!
Thatโs a sign to practice traditional media more often.
I learned a lot about planning and making decisions before putting pen to paper. I also made a ton of mistakes on proportions and inking blob smears almost every time. Overall, Iโm proud to complete my 2nd Inktober.
Congratulations again for knocking it out and doing stellar work! My favorite pieces are the spirits and flying dragon with moon.

@lizardillo thanks so much Liz! Appreciate the words! Saw the stickers with your logo btw!Awesome!
@Jeremy-Ross Thanks so much Jeremy!
To tell you the truth, my initial plan A is to self print the whole collection as a book and give some limited copies to friends, family and maybe send some to publishers or editors. I want to work this plan out and see how it goes.Plan B is to use these characters to tell a full fledged story ( I have already started writing it ) I want to try and do a mixed media/comic-childrens book type of book but I am really curious of how it will be received.
Thanks for your words! It was nice seeing Penelope ! My favourite of yours is the sprout word! So creative! I think it will do well in critique arena!!
-
@Georgios-Christopoulos nice work! And agree with @Jeremy-Ross . Love how you played with perspective. The characters seem pretty consistent to me and it piques my interest on what the main comic story is all about
-
These are also great questions!
My thoughts on this years Inktober:
I decided early on to post just 3 drawings a week, but it defeated the purpose of developing daily drawing habits and it was pretty tough to maintain momentum.
I stuck to the same 2 characters and universe and used the prompts to write blurbs similar to your works actually! I intend to take a break from it this month since I have lots of life stuff going on but I plan to finish this booklet before 2021 ends.
I was feeling pretty anxious about staying on top of social media so I don't think I was able to maximize Inktober in that way
I feel like I learnt to simplify compositions a lot better and experiment with textures with this project. All in all it was a pretty fun challenge to do as a community #noregrets -
Wow ! Very cool project ! Congrats for doing Inktober ! I never was able to finish the 31 illustrations!
-
@donnamakesart these are wonderful. Congrats for your achievement. I'm in awe of everyone's Inktober. It seems quite an intense challenge so going at your own pace seems good idea otherwise you may be put off and end up abandoning your project and that would be a shame as it's great.
-
@lizardillo thanks so much! And agreed. The community around Inktober is really what pumps me to do the challenge. It's always kind of bittersweet when it ends
-
Hereโs my showcase of Penelope & Bunny!
Which is your favorite?
-
@Jeremy-Ross I like all of these. I think the Raven one may be my favourite if I had to pick one as I like itโs expression. Congrats on making such a great suit of illustrations.
-
Thank you for your kind words @lizardillo!
-
@donnamakesart Thanks for the kind words! I loved how confident your use of black became near the half of it! Social media anxiety is a true virus, I get you. But we have to remember, that it really doesn't matter if you show it to a bunch of strangers in the end. I have heard of really few instances that artists get jobs from Instagram. Focus where it really matters! Anyways, I loved your showcase!
@ValD You are awesome!Do it at your own pace, or abandon ship and get on to a next project if you feel it was not fullfilling!!
@Jeremy-Ross I really loved your contest entry one.the sprout one! So good! Nice showcase!

These look good @Georgios-Christopoulos @Jeremy-Ross and @donnamakesart ! Here is a pic of my stuff. I did all 31 days but I put just the alphabet into the picture to see what it would look like.
-
Great job with the alphabet book @chrisaakins!

it's pretty interesting to see how varied our styles are even when everyone is using black and white only
