Why is Clip Studio Paint so difficult to learn?

I’m giving Clip Studio Paint a try because from what I’ve seen on YouTube, it’s a very efficient tool to use to draw comics and I’d like to use it for my next book.
However, I’m finding CSP has a very, very, very, very steep learning curve. I’m completely lost. I don’t find the tutorials on the Clip Studio site very helpful and the videos I’ve been finding on YouTube are more tips rather than a step-by-step how-to. Maybe I’m just too used to Photoshop and Procreate.
I’m finding the most basic functions in CSP aren’t intuitive at all. For instance, I’d like to change the colour of the ink I’m drawing with. Ok, I go to the colour palette and choose red. I draw and it’s… in black. I do a Google search on how to change the ink colour and it says to go to Edit > Convert to drawing color. Nope, still black. Oh, I’m supposed to click on the layer first. Um… ok. In real life, I’d just pick up a red pencil and continue with my day. Same with Photoshop and Procreate. Anyway, I accept the challenge and click the layer. Oh right, it’s already clicked because I was working on it. Whatever, I’ll click it again just in case. Then I go to Edit and Convert to Drawing Color and… nope. It’s still black. By the way, I’m doing this on my iPad, not the desktop version in case that makes a difference.
If many other artists have no trouble with CSP, than I should have no trouble with it either, right? So… anyone here who use CSP can enlighten me on what’s the proper way to approach this alien software? Or better yet, can recommend an actual honest to goodness step-by-step how to? I’m usually pretty quick at picking up new software but CSP has proven to be kryptonite.

@danielerossi Switching colours works like most other programs like photoshop and such. You should be able to pick a colour and go. Did you try using a different tool and/or creating a new canvas just in case you'd toggled a setting of some kind?

There are some excellent videos on the Graphixly Youtube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/Graphixly). I've learned a bunch from their different webinars. I think if you stick with it you'll love the software. Arranging your workspace, as obvious as that sounds, makes a big difference as it relates to learning speed. Once I learned the gist of the software and put the tools, presets, etc. of my workspace in the best places I was able to learn more quickly.
