February Prompt - Composition choices - 3D stuff

@kevin-longueil Hi Kevin! Welcome back! Since you've got votes for several, go with the one you like!
I was initially drawn to A because the garage was immediate (what @Holumpa said). But the risk is that the garage will engulf the silhouette, as least in its present form. You could add contrast, of course.
I like the curved trajectory of C and the silhouettes are clear. You could turn Riley's head, since it's just a ball anyway.
What I like about D is that the vehicle looks like a beetle coming at us. The vehicle itself is dynamic, and the doors give it some silhouette despite its being foreshortened.
My only question about this prompt is, how important is it to show details of the trashed garage? I won't be jumping into the fray this time because I am too busy, but I wonder how much importance we as judges (and the selection crew) will give this part of the text, given that it's a single image? I'm not questioning anyone's WIP, just asking aloud!

I am definitely hearing what you are saying about the prompt....my hope is to make a mass of tools and vehicle parts which tumbles out the doors of the garage..i like the trajectory of C too...maybe something between C and D..... All four compositions have their strengths. I know it is a WIP but, a major challenge will be in the design and legibility of the flying vehicle. Striking the balance between recognizable, assembled parts and a machine that communicates the traditional symbols of what a flying machine is will be a good investment of energy. Very smart to work it up with 3d models that you can mix and match on the fly…

@thomcharles Great point for sure...scrolling through some of these on my phone has really shown how poorly the flying machine reads in some of them.

Well...this has gone off the rails a bit... i really love working with the ipad 3D programs...first image is in Shapr3D - second is in Nomad - third is just Procreate with a super quick background idea behind the model i built.
I'm think i'm liking the composition and story in this much more than my earlier tries...this is a steam punk world and Riley is escaping the oppressive gloom of the dirty city...not much in the way of a ruined garage but for the burning orange glow in the background...maybe she needs a backpack and her tools to show that she is never going back?

@kevin-longueil Oooh, I like the story that is shaping up out of this! (I also want to learn how to do a 3D program!) With that burning orange glow, I think we can safely say that whatever she has left below is a mess! You have a good silhouette, a cool vehicle design, and I think the backpack and tools would indeed send the message that she isn't going back.
Maybe a pollution cloud below and some fresh rosy-lit sky above would make the story even clearer?

@lauraa Thank you Laura!! The 3D programs i'm using are really easy to learn..i think i only know how to do a fraction of what they are capable of but the basics are good enough for me. Not sure how i will use the model...thinking i will compose the scene and decrease the opacity and ink straight over the models (possibly a sacrilege to some but i'm not really too concerned)....fairly certain i will not make the deadline but i will at least hopefully have a new portfolio piece.
