The Garden Witch

@Asyas_illos me too, me too...
Im trying to figure out a way to colour the traditional lineart that was simple enough to do quickly. I always heard about the use of the selection tool, then inverting it..yadda yadda. Didnt realize just multiplying the lineart would work too. (Stupid, I know).
I'm going to play around with it to see if I can make it work!

These illustrations are so fun. I love the carrot! I love the use of value you used with the witch in bed with the three mice. LOL. Your loose ink lines and the overlapping with watercolor style is lovely. Congratulations on everything.

I like both styles but prefer your loose watercolour too. What program are you using? You may be a be able to create a happy balance of both watercolour and digital? If Procreate, there is Max Ulichney's Maxpacks Watercolour brush packs (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links but search 'Watercolor MaxPack'). If you are using Photoshop and a Creative Cloud subscription the Kyle T. Webster's watercolour brush set is free to download from Adobe. I have used the MaxPack Procreate watercolours and they are very good. I am hardly drawing in Photoshop nowadays so can't really review them but if you already have a CC subscription then they are worth a try. You may already know this but thought I may mention it just in case.
Good luck with everything, your work is so great!

@kylebeaudette I love this story so much! I don't even know the premise, but the way you've illustrated these pieces makes me want to own a copy of The Garden Witch
-
@Kristen-Lango thank you so much!
-
@kylebeaudette yes I can't wait to know the words behind the illustrations!
-
@kylebeaudette Really love this last set of illustrations, fun and lively and so full of characterisation. It encourages me to keep my simple line style and develop a more 3-d style as an alternative.

Tried some Caran D'ache water soluble crayons after seeing Peter de Séve's stuff on instagram. They're pretty cool.

@kylebeaudette ooh nice texture! Very creepy

@kylebeaudette let me guess last spread? Lol

@kylebeaudette These are awesome - I've been wondering about watersoluble crayons for some time now. Would you recommend them?
