Starting Foundations to develop fundamental skills and a regular practice.
-
Hi! My name's Ryan, and I'm a beginner in my 30s. I loved to draw as a kid, but I haven't had a regular drawing practice since about 9th grade, which is also the last time I had any formal art instruction. I love to look at and think about art, but my skills lag behind my enthusiasm.
I found SVSLearn through the 3-Point Perspective podcast. I'd like to use the Foundations curriculum as a way to get solid in the fundamentals of drawing, and to develop a regular drawing practice.
I'm interested in narrative art, and right now I'm most attracted to story art for film and animation (storyboarding, vis dev, movie posters, title sequences). But I'm so inexperienced that I feel a little goofy being specific, and I'm open to finding new areas of interest. I really just want to get my skills and confidence up so I can start exploring what kinds of pictures I'd like to make.

@Ryan-C Welcome Ryan! Love that you are here and can't wait to see what you can do! Take your time and soak up the classes listed in the curriculum. If you go through that and get a good handle on each of those classes, you will do very well!
PS- everyone's skills lag behind their enthusiasm! So welcome to the club! : )
Cheers,
