MAY CONTEST: Storm!
-
Can anyone help me, I want to know how to get my image the right size for posting here, as when I usually post work it's too large. Do I just resize the original image within the software, and if so what's an ideal size?
-
@PenAndrew I'm not sure if this answers your question but to post here it just needs to be less than 500kb. So I use the same size and dimensions as what I send to the critique area.
-
@AlliFaith Kind of but I want to make it easier to look at here. Not needing to scroll down as much.
-
@PenAndrew if you keep it a square shape you shouldn’t need to scroll so much. I do my entries for the contest on 2048 x 2048 pixels post them here and wherever else, then resize down to the required 1200x 1200 or smaller, for the critique arena. Hope that helps. I don’t need to scroll a bunch on that size, also it probably depends a little on what it’s being viewed on.

With one day to spare…

@Asyas_illos So magical and cool!
-
Just uploaded my entry. I had SO MUCH fun with this one.
-
@Valerie-Light This is really cool!

Calm during a storm. I have a memory of sitting with my dad on Pelee Island in Canada. It was the first time I wasn't afraid of a storm. He explained to. me that sInce light travels faster than sound, first you see the lightning flash, then a few minutes later you hear the thunder. Watching it from far away and learning about the science of storms made me feel less frightened.

@HollyOakley Thanks Holly!
-
@PenAndrew I like to make a second file that's the critique arena ratios, and then copy and paste my canvas. I like having the original size to work from if I want to go back in and rework it

@Johanna-Kim thank you

@Asyas_illos Thanks.

Boy, I really should’ve watched Wills interior design class, before I did that last one lol!

The Aussie Dust Storm can create all sorts of problems, especially if you aren't prepared!!

Here is my entry. Went analog this month and did this entirely traditional with colored pencils (well, there were a few Photoshop edits post-scan!).
-
And ... thought I'd use this month's prompt (cuz it was a good one!) to do a second illustration on toned paper. Wanted to test out how the toned paper handled watercolor and colored pencil. Next time, I think I'm going to try a gouache base under the colored pencils to help the colors pop against the grey background (I had to do a bit of color adjusting in Photoshop). All in all, it was a fun experiment!
-
@Melissa_Bailey Oh I love the way you painted the first cloud, the second image is my favourite. Once again you have captured a feeling of movement and joy. A good contender for the top 16.
