Which Sketch Best Conveys my Concept?
-
I'm trying to show that the boy knocked over the bottle of ink with his arm. (The triangle things in front of him are a house of cards, in case you're wondering!) Which pose in these sketches best shows that? Or do any of you have another idea of how to design this scene? Or any other general design suggestions?

@kirsten-mcg I think it's more clear from the first two that he knocked it over with his elbow. For the bottom ones, it still reads that he knocked it over, but not necessarily with his elbow (since it's not as close to the bottle).

@kirsten-mcg I agree with @susanhowarth-art, I think the top two convey the elbow knocking over the ink better.

@kirsten-mcg I think the top two as well

@kirsten-mcg The top two seem mid action or just a hair after the elbow hit it. The 3rd one doesn't read as well to me. The 4th one seems to be after the initial action and he is reacting to what has happened.

I think the 4th is the clearest post but it’s less clear that he knocked over the ink. It seems like the ink is falling over and he’s reacting to it. I think just some action lines showing the path of the arm course fix this. The top two poses more clearly show the action that is happening but the poses themselves are not very readable in terms of the silhouette. I would stick with the 4th since the pose is more clear and try and make the connection between the boy and knocking over the bottle more clear.
