Always curious to find more films or documentaries about artists, illustrators, designers or anything in that realm that I've not seen.

So if anyone has any they like or have seen, or even want to see please share as you never quite know what is out there.

For example, here are just a few that come to mind for me:

      Mr. Turner
Movie about the life of the British painter, J.M.W Turner

The Electrical Life of Louis Wain
Movie about the life of Louis Wain

      Loving Vincent
Amazing animated film about the end of Vincent van Gogh's life

      Crumb
Documentary about the cartoonist Robert Crumb.

Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed
A bit of an eye opening documentary about Bob Ross and the business that boomed up around him.

        @Blitz55 I'd recommend the following:
American Experience: Walt Disney (Bonus watch: Drunk History: The Real-Life Drama Behind the Birth of Mickey Mouse)
        Big Eyes
        Red
        10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki
Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

If we can include movies about music into the mix:
        Amadeus
        Whiplash

If we're going with documentaries about Disney, I'd recommend Walt: The Man Behind the Myth and Waking Sleeping Beauty.

@Blitz55 I just watched It's Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise on HBO+. Really interesting. It didn't focus on his illustration process as much as his career trajectory, which was educational in itself.

For short little snippets, I love Pete Beard's YouTube channel, especially his Unsung Heroes of Illustration series and videos focusing on one particular illustrator.

@lpetiti Oh yes, that reminds me of another favorite of mine about the two great animators called "Frank and Ollie". Outstanding doc for anyone interested in that golden era of animation at Disney.

@Melissa_Bailey Thanks Melissa, I'll have to check that out!

As far as Pete Beards channel, it's been a favorite of mine for YEARS, and I've been happy to see it slowly pick up some popularity. It's such a fantastic channel and I could go on and on about how much I love it. Great example. 🙂

@willicreate I love Amadeus and only recently saw Whiplash. Incredible films with outstanding performances.

Thanks for your list though, I don' think I've seen most of those. Big Eyes I believe I did see and maybe part or parts of 10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki.

                    Archipel youtube channel
Specifically the "toco toco" subseries: A series of short documentaries on Japan's creative people: designers, illustrators, manga artists, fine artists, architects, game devs. I find the cinematography very relaxing to wind down for the day.

Any of the art documentaries on Disney+ are great. The Imagineering Story is incredible and I rewatch it often. Their behind the scenes Imagineering shorts are very good as well. Some other good ones on there is 'Howard,' 'Pixar Story' and 'Empire of Dreams.'
