Hi everyone! You were all so helpful with my last book cover I thought I would ask for your thoughts again. I’m working on "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.” I feel like I should probably do the first option with The characters looking in through the wardrobe door, because its an original idea that I haven't seen done before as a cover for that book...but I really like the scene in the woods! Which design do you think is stronger? And as always, critiques on the compositions are welcome!

@kirsten-mcg I like the first one more! Plus, you go with that one, it can be a mirror to the cover I did a while back. 
@kirsten-mcg I would go for 1 for reasons that it is more intriguing due to the framing. It will also be easier to fit in the title text. The second one has the lamp post at the center which makes it awkward to place text.
@kirsten-mcg I agree that the first one is better. It's more intriguing, gets at the wonder, and also the focus is on their faces rather than the lamppost, which is tall, skinny and central.
@kirsten-mcg Agreed with the above - the first is stronger, plus I haven’t seen that perspective like I’ve seen the lamppost that’s been done many times. The first cover feels like the start of a new adventure, and it kind of makes more sense with the title anyway!
@kirsten-mcg I say go with the first option for the cover, and you can always use the second as a chapter header spot illustration; that will make a strong portfolio piece as well.
I agree that the first one is stronger, but I wonder if you could include a little more of the tree branches in it (or something else...maybe a glow coming from the wardrobe? or maybe that's cheesy) to emphasize the magical / different world they're peering into.

@kirsten-mcg I like both of these but the second one is tricky with the lamp and text placement. If you do go with the first one I think you should really emphasize the world they’re looking into. The tree branches are good, I think some snow drifting in and some snow collected on the parts of the clothes closer to Narnia could look nice.

@kirsten-mcg Nice! I think the kids' expressions capture their personalities well. I'd just leave a little more top/bottom margin around the type.
