Can't wait to hear this episode! This is a topic I think/talk about a lot.
I'm in the 'dont quit your dayjob' camp. I love my dayjob, but also it provides me so much stability. I can't imagine giving that up for some idea of 'being a real artist'.
I don't have kids, but I am married. I would only do art full-time if I was losing money by NOT doing that. I feel like I owe that to my wife. Don't really want to freak her out that I'm going to make us lose the house because I have to chase 'my dreeeaaam'.
I talk about this with other artists and almost everytime they disagree with me. I don't get it.

@Jake-Parker Will’s quote “decisions have consequences and thats why there’s process “ was the brain exploder for me, I know Im paraphrasing but when he mentioned it it clicked right away.

All the questions and discussions were so good. On the topic of being smart financially, I think we might be in need of an update on what our expectations should be for jobs in children's books, since a lot has changed in the last 4 years. @Lee-White could we get a 5 minute money tip about this? Or can this be a question for an upcoming interview that makes sense to ask?

@Jake-Parker Oh my Gosh Jake, this podcast just came in time. I am having these exact thoughts right now, as I enter 16 months of employment at a corporate firm.
I miss doing illustrations
