@AthenaBeana @demotlj Thank you both so much!

Your comments were really helpful, and you understood the story correctly. The princess is sad because her prince has turned into a frog, and she longs for him, which is why the picture of them both is on the table. The princess is disgusted by the frog eating, while the frog enjoys his worms.

I changed the princess to look at the frog and made the table a bit shorter. I hope the image is clearer now.
      3.jpg

I also tried adding green to the worms to indicate that they smell.

This is a sketch I did in Central Park while I was visiting New York City which I scanned into Procreate when I got home and painted digitally. I was really amused by seeing the pigeons perched on the characters' heads and hands. I'm sure NYC natives don't give the pigeons a second thought but they brought such whimsy to the scene for me.

If you can’t decide whether to walk it or wear it, just do both- with a little sass! 🐊👜

I suddenly felt like making a colorful illustration because I think my HFYA November piece is a bit dull in terms of color and that makes me quite disappointed about it... I'm almost considering making a completely new, more colorful picture for it.

                      Paper Cuttings.jpg
I was feeling crafty so this image for the HTFYA prompt was done using cut out pieces of paper to create a bit of depth. It was so much fun to not have to stare at a screen and just go crazy with paper and pencils.

@MarcRobinson This!! I love it!!! Are you planning on making more of these? I was actually also thinking about draw-cut-glue illustrations, but it took too much time and I gave up. Seeing how you tackled this is AWESOME! 😁

@mag hey thanks Mag. I had a blast doing it but it takes ages, so I'm not planning on doing another just yet. I think I'm gonna take some time off to work solely on a personal project. I keep getting distracted by these prompts!

I'll post the pictures here for now since the November studio hasn't been created yet.

I tried a looser coloring technique because coloring and over-coloring have been my stumbling blocks. It's definitely more enjoyable to color with the new brushes—it feels like I don’t need to add as much color for it to show up. I tried to make these fairly quickly to avoid over-coloring. 🙂

This is one that I’ve been experimenting with for a long time- finally going to call it finished.

@jvartandillustration The characters all feel like notes as well, something about the shapes you used for them.

What did you find to be the hardest part about this piece? What was the easiest?

@StudioHannah Oh, wow good questions. This piece was one of the first I started making after moving away from raster and into vector art (I'm using Affinity Designer now almost exclusively). I set this one aside for a while until I became more proficient, but I think it is really challenging not really using an eraser, but rather just trying to manipulate the shapes until they look right. The easiest parts are always the starting sketches, because the end product doesn't always turn out how I envision when I start sketching, though I'm sure everyone around here has that issue as well.

                                            Thanks!
