Practice, practice, practice

they look great! I love the texture and how you framed them.

Looking good Suzy! One thing to note, the greens look a little saturated back there. Try to practice hitting different greens that vary in temperature (warms and cools). Most greens are actually much warmer than people think. You also want to vary that tone, saturation, and color temperature. Here's some mixtures to get you started. The Quinacridone Gold and french ultramarine (with a touch of burnt sienna) is a favorite of mine. : )

Thanks so much for the feedback, everyone. I was having a hard time with the acrylics and decided to go back to some foundational work. Seeing everyone's beautiful work with watercolor really has inspired me. Thanks, @Lee White for the notes. Yes, I really see the colors better on the chart. It's time I get serous and make a chart; that'll really help me make better choices as I'm working.

I like your portraits

Were to begin. I didn't make deadline but decided to post here. I started out with pencil, then added watercolor. Then added acrylic on top. What a mess. LOL Messed around in Photoshop a tad but my skills are limited with it. So, this is all I've got today. Warning; I'm a work in progress!

Kind of all over the place. I feel like if I could just get the shapes and drawings consistent I could move forward. I absolutely love Kley, Daumier, Carter Goodrich, Peter de Seve, Arthur Rackham (and so many others). I'm having fun with the drawing; just putting it out there.

After much thought, I've decided I really need to invest in better materials. ...and to keep practicing, of course.

Really dig this Easter illustration. NICE Work!
-
@Suzy-Heitz Nice work. Using high quality paint and paper do make a difference. I like Arches paper and M. Graham paints. Quinacridone Gold is one of my favorite colors. I really like your Easter piece.

Personal project practice: Illustrated recipe.
-
@Suzy-Heitz That is really cool! I don't know if I've ever seen an illustrated recipe before!
-
@BWoodford Thanks! It was so challenging. You should defiantly give it a try!

This one is a picture manual. A bit rough but I managed to finish it. I'm not too handy with Photoshop so please don't be too harsh on the contrast.
-
More watercolor practice.

A little bit of art journaling yesterday. Does anyone else find this challenging?

A little dino doodle.
