3rd Thurs. Spot or Not?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this group and participated in 3rd Thurs. last month for the first time. I learned so much so I went back and watched all the youtube videos of past critiques. Very helpful!
I was wondering about this month's prompt. I could have sworn it said at one time it had to be a spot, but maybe I was mistaken? Anyway, is it okay to submit a spot if it doesn't call for one? And any suggestions on this? These are layers in Photoshop from acrylic paintings. The rope is a separate layer I did with Prismacolors. So everything can still be adjusted and changed. Thank you for the feedback.

I don't think it has to be a spot, last month was a spot. I believe this can be anything you want. I really like your texture you have on the water, I would suggest maybe making the top of the turtle a little darker. It tends to get lost since the values are so close.

For the first two or so days the prompt did include the spot instruction, left over from last month. But they've since removed it.
Your illustration is so creative, fun, and beautiful! I love your colors. Have you tried Photoshopping in some accent lighting? I think that would help the mermaid and saw shark pop out a little more. Great work!
