Feeling a bit overwhelmed with self-publishing.

Things I've learned from my journey so far.
Have a plan before you start a business.
Don't print your book before you get a LCCN or PCN number because you won't be able to get one.
There is a lot of paperwork involved.
There is a lot of check writing involved. Save money where you can.
Have someone else check your book for errors in text or drawings. It's easy to overlook things in your own work . Once they're printed, you're stuck.
If you have a plan, you might have a better understanding of how to run your business efficiently so that you still have time to draw and write instead of tryng to figure out how to run a business.
Make sure you have a lot of friends and family to buy your books (especially if they have mistakes in them because they will be forgiving).
Understand the costs involved if you decide not to POD with createspace or lulu.
You will have setbacks..especially if you don't have a plan.
Try not to get in the habit of drowning your sorrows with snicker bars-you'll make yourself sick. Take a walk or something instead.
It does feel good though, when you see that someone really likes what you did and buys 16 for their grandkids
And someone who will use it for their kindergarten class because the rhyming words are pefect for that age
It is a very challenging process for me but, I will press forward and do my best.
Listen to Lee White's class again. -
