@Charlie-Eve-Ryan Thanks! I was on their site the other day and saw your work and was like "hey I know that artist!"

How has it been so far? Are they representing a specific book for you, getting you illustration work or both?

@natiwata Thanks Nat! They are representing both my art and writing. We are working on two projects, one is a pb dummy that has interest from 4 trade publishers and another is a board book project I am working on for submission to a smaller publisher who asked to see any board book projects I may have after seeing my portfolio. I love it there and feel like it is a great fit for me.

The experience and talent there is incredible so it's pretty humbling and amazing to be a part of their agency plus and most importantly, they are very professional and seem to really care about their authors and illustrators. So excited for you!!

          Happy Creating

Great stuff, well done!. What happens now do you get paid? Or is it all about the sale of the book? Good to hear people use svs and have success makes me want to keep plugging away. 🙂

@Jason-Bowen What happens now is that I work with my agent to make revisions to get the book as strong as possible. Once we feel good about it she will put together a pitch and create a list of 4-5 editors to send it out to initially. If one or more make an offer to buy the book then we negotiate and chose the best option, that's when I would get paid a portion of the advance on royalties, and the agent takes a cut. T

he main advantage to using an agency like Andrea Brown is that they are connected to all of the major publishing houses and will pitch to them as much as possible since the contracts, distribution and marketing budgets tend to be higher than smaller indie publishers. So even though you pay a portion of your royalties to your agent, they're hopefully getting you a deal you (especially as a new author) would have a hard time getting without representation.

@Charlie-Eve-Ryan Yay, agency mates! Pretty cool, and I've found them really great to work with so far too!

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement, I'll keep you all posted and feel free to ask any questions you have about the process since I'm in the middle of it.
