@amberwingart This is great - i love this style and it looks like it is your natural way of drawing! - super cool! Are you looking for feedback on these at all? - the only thought i had was possibly the scale of the palette is a bit small - i think a huge palette held at an angle not quite mirroring the brush but close might be worth a try - it would really make a nice shape i think - anyways feel free to ignore 🙂 this looks really nice the way it is!

@Kevin-Longueil Feedback is always so greatly appreciated! I was thinking I should make the palette bigger, but I ran out of time last night - I'll try that & repost.

I have a question about style though...You'd said this is probably my natural style & I'm wondering if you could please describe what you mean...I'm looking for my style but I can't seem to see it yet, but others have mentioned my style & I'm curious what they're/you're seeing that I'm not seeing. Thank you again for the input!!

@amberwingart To me it has a Golden Age feel to it - magical realism perhaps is the best way to describe it - there is probably a real genre label that i am not thinking of though 🙂

@Kevin-Longueil Wow. You just made my day :). The Golden Age illustrators are my favorites - they're the ones I'd spend hours looking at as a kid, so hearing that just made my spirit soar. Thanks, Kevin :).

@amberwingart Not sure if you've seen this already, but I just finished watching a video by Jake Parker, where he mentions that the inspiration for the video was the 'Creative Slump' thread that you posted here on SVS a while back, and he replied to....in the video he summarises the suggestions he made in the thread. Thought you might like to know, and it's good viewing anyway, especially for anyone who wants to get all motivated about Inktober 🙂

@Dulcie Oh wow, I haven't seen that! Could you please post a link to it for me? His suggestions in that thread are what pulled me out of that 8 month creative emptiness.

Hey all, here's my current wip for "Gone Fishing," the piece I started 8 months ago before I took the composition class here. I'm trying to salvage it, but I'm starting to get frustrated with it, since I've never really been happy with the concept.

I still have to do the reeds in the back and in the front, fix the water, do the fish's back fin and finish the bear & his fishing pole. Critiques are always welcome, as always!

Hey everyone, here's my latest finished piece. I originally started it in February, then put it aside during my slump. I'm glad I did, because I came back to it in September and decided to finish it. But before I did, I watched SVS videos and learned a ton, which I applied to this. I couldn't really change the composition by that time, but I think I added a lot of depth and interest to it. You can scroll up a bit to see the original before my changes. Any critiques are greatly appreciated!
