Hello, Iam trying to draw a dwarf, who is looking inside a treasure box. He is worried that there is not many precious buttons left. Unfortunately i don't have much knowledge and experience on perspective yet. Can anyone help? 🙂 Thanks in advance!

@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen This class is on my list, but I didn't take it yet.
However I showed it to my kids and ask what they saw.
"Weird man opening the box" was good enough for me, so I started to color it 😉

I think you're on the right track and seeking out advice is a wonderful idea. I don't do that quite enough. I have been looking at your image and trying to figure out what is not happening with the perspective. The Perspective class with SVS will be a great class to take. I think the first thing that you can always do to make sure the construction is done in a way that you like will be for you to draw the whole item you are drawing. The chest you have drawn is cropped out you image on all sides so you need to first draw the chest so you can see the whole thing. I first tried to add the needed lines to your drawing to 'construct' the box and you have drawn the box so far outside the 'cone of vision' that the corner is a little askew but not wrong and the lid simply doesn't follow the perspective lines you established with the inside corner of the box. I made an attempt at drawing the box in a way that you might only need to adjust a few lines and get things back into 'perspective'! I hope this helps. !0_1494462419414_Screen Shot 2017-05-10 at 5.14.17 PM.png 0_1494462736351_Screen Shot 2017-05-10 at 5.30.47 PM.png 0_1494462742213_Screen Shot 2017-05-10 at 5.31.54 PM.png

@WhiteboardJim thanks a lot for taking effort to redraw the box! Thats very helpful:) I did draw the whole box, but i had a big problem with the lid. Concerning seeking the advice, I realised that i can learn much quicker if i do this. Very often i know that something is wrong with my drawings but i dont have good advisors around me. It takes me days sometimes to figure it out or i dont fix it at all.

I think you also need to figure out the form of the dwarf's head. find the center line of the overall form.. somewhat like the example here. 🙂
