      Hi all,

Here's my first image post (!), - it's a very rough idea of an image I wanted to do, but I'm not sure about it at all. I was thinking the dog could be a basset hound since they have such expressive eyes. Also because they often have a white blaze going up their muzzle, and the bee might possibly be more visible against it.

But maybe it won't work at all because the bee is so small compared to the dog that she can't be seen.

So, any thoughts? I know it's not very good, but is it even worth pursuing for practice?

      Thank you for looking!

      Kat

@Kat said in Rough sketch idea:

          basset hound

looks cool:-) i like his thin, long neck, he looks really surprised 😉 However if you want it to be basset hound, then try to put more skin hanging from their faces 😉 They always look so tired and heavy those dogs 😉

@DOTTYP , thank you! I will try...I often ruin things when I start painting. I need to watch more SVSLearn videos on working with color and digital painting.

@aska , thanks, yes, after looking at more photos of bassets, I can see what you mean. They do look tired and heavy, and a bit sad too. I'll try to get more folds on the cheeks/jowls so he looks more like a basset 🙂

@Kat Hey, remember that it doesn't have to be basset hound. Its your dog and you create a new kind 😉 If you want to learn video on painting, '10 step digital painting' is a good one.

I absolutely love it. I love the expression on the dog. Funny! 🙂

Very true, and I think I will consider him a generic hound dog. I tried adding more floppy jowls and even the loose skin that bassets have on their necks, but didn't really like how it looked.

Thanks for the tip on which video might be helpful! I've been procrastinating on painting this because I didn't want to ruin it. Fingers crossed that I can do OK with it!

Peter, thank you, I was trying to make his expression funny 😊
