Does anyone know about artistic paintings on aluminum sheets?

I was in the art festival and saw one of the most unique displays ever. Artists have drawn abstract art on part of aluminum (or some type of aluminum sheet) which is a novice artist for many years, but they are very interested and learn more I wanted to do it. I searched on the internet, but it is useless. Does anyone have any ideas?

they were probably prints which is being favored in photography right now too.

your description is very vague, but there are aluminum plates that are being used in the printing industry, that you can expose images onto too. i guess if you wanted instead of printing from it, you could roll it up with ink and use that as the end point as well. http://www.takachpress.com/access/litho.htm
