Wonderful scene! Fun to see all the 50 things that are in your drawing - value and color will be an exciting next step!

Thank you everyone for your input! I really appreciate it. @Will-Terry Thank you so much for responding! I started implementing your advice about moving the plant, but I have a question. If I make the plant huge on that one side, will that make the right side seem too weighted? Or does my character help balance it out on the other side? Thanks for your help!

@Wendy-Plybon Yes - I think the interest in your character will balance it - especially if you put the contrast emphasis on your doctor/scientist character. Here is an example of that strong foreground framing in a tree... 0_1497449407651_c62b85ae14ec60cc1aa9b12d467d6b9c.jpg 0_1497449414022_1497317457589-d50thingscrit.jpg

Well done! It's awesome that you challenged yourself, you'll grow so much from it. I love Will's suggestions, but overall you did an excellent job. 🙂

Ok, so I started adding color. I'm going to show how green I am because I have zero confidence adding value and color to my drawings. I did do value thumbnails and such but implementing them larger scale is intimidating to me... Here is my progress so far and I want to know, am I pushing my lights and darks enough? Do I need more contrast? Or should I wait until I have color on the rest of the drawing to fiddle with it too much?

@Wendy-Plybon I really like it. I always end up touching up and changing my values in layers when I do watercolor. I'm not yet a digital artist so I don't know how that works but it seems like it would be a similar process. I start with light colors to get a feel for it and to be able to distinguish the objects better, and then start adding darker shading or brighter accents, etc. to that. Great job! I still need to do that challenge (properly) myself.

@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen Thank you. I don't work digitally either. I'm too in love with traditional mediums. ☺ I've been working in layers and slowly pushing the contrast on each piece. I think I need to get the color on the rest of the piece though to get a better idea of what really needs to go where. I keep trying to remind myself, I can always go darker, but I can't always go lighter.

Finished (I think)! Let me know what you all think! Does it need any tweaking? I feel like maybe the right foreground could be a little darker, but I also think I have stared at it too long and would appreciate a fresh perspective. Any advice would be welcome!!

Thank you, @Will-Terry for the challenge! Working through this from start to finish was definitely challenging. I definitely learned a lot and it makes me appreciate how much work goes into something like this that much more. And I'm already planning another one. 😃
