JUNE ILLUSTRATION CONTEST: TREEHOUSE

@katrina-fowler I love your work!! I don't know what your personal life and schedule are like, but I think you have a lot of skill. I hope you continue trying to break into this.

Hi guys! This is my first entry. I’m super excited. This was done with watercolor first, then finished on Procreate. I am 17 years old and I welcome critiques!
Here’s the backstory to my illustration… The treehouse belongs to a wizard family. The mother homeschools their five children. They don’t attend a regular school because the walking tree carries them from place to place so the father wizard can perform community service through wizardry. The tree is named Topiary.

@hnpturner Ahah, I lvoe the idea of a little bonsai. Maybe growing a tiny civilization! The kite is a sweet touch.

Hey all,
So, this is my final entry :).
It's the treehouse of little Carlos, whose family lives on the junkyard his father works on. Even though they are poor, they are a happy family utilizing anything they can find on the yard. His father made this treehouse for Carlos, just to give him something for his own: a nice little retreat in which Carlos spends his time reading (and learning from) books found at this junkyard which makes him feel like the richest boy on the planet. And sometimes a kid just wants to swing...

Here is my finished piece. I changed a few things from my earlier version. I added a third 'level' via the bucket and a third creature - the bird, and I gave the bear a book and changed the snail completely because of issues I was having with his position and form, I also added the flying pennant streamer. Most importantly I addressed the perspective issue with the bottom of the tree that Will kindly mentioned. Thanks for the help Will, I am very glad I continued to work that out to a better final piece.

@misty-mckeithen I dig the addition of the pennant. It adds a bit of energy and adventure to this otherwise peaceful and pensive piece!

@dennis-spaans This turned out so well! The staircase is my favorite, but there are so many small stories in it!

Hi This is my entry. Wanted to illustrate a story from when I was younger where we tried to spend the night in my friends tree house. It felt really exciting at first but soon we got bored and uncomfortable so headed inside!
Everyone's take on the topic is so different. Great to see all the work.

You guys are awesome! Sadly, I pretty much abandoned my attempt. Life got in the way, and I kept starting over because I didn't like what I had, and now there just isn't time for me to finish. Maybe next month!
