Hi, here is my submission to this month's contest. I hope people like it~ When I read the prompt I thought "old as dinosaurs", and then what's even older that dinosaurs? Dinosaur bones! And so there is nothing new like babies - a new life into the world, and technology is always new of course. So, I made it robotic babies!
I also put a umbilical cord in there to show the robot is newly born from the egg.I was struggling a bit with this one but thanks to all the encouragement on the forums I decided to finish it. Thanks everyone! I would have liked to spend more time on it but it's coming down to the wire and there is only 24 hours in a day, and the end of the month is coming up soon, so I have to call it done.

Alright friends, well maybe soon to be friends I guess... I've only posted on the forums like once, but I follow a few of you on instagram with @zacharyryan_art. Anyway, this is all new to me. I mean like almost all of it. Illustrating, digital stuff, learning to draw again. I've been watching classes quite a bit and super grateful for this site. So here is my entry. I immediately thought of the 1979 bright yellow Lada I drive here in Slovakia, and then inspired by one of my favorite movies, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, but then it ended up looking like the magic school bus hahaha! Didn't realize it till I did the sky blue.

I had so much fun working on this painting. I recently watched Lee's loosening up in watercolor video, so I experimented with the techniques from the video. I also used masking fluid for the first time and I got to use the fancy M.Graham paint my husband got me as an early birthday gift (my birthday is tomorrow :D).
Working on this painting was such a different experience than working on last month's entry was. Last month I was so stressed because I was trying to do the whole thing start to finish on the day it was due.This month, I gave myself more time and I didn't psych myself out about so many people seeing it. I didn't put the pressure on myself that it had to be the greatest thing I had ever done. I just played with my paints and it was fun.
Anyways, old and new. The barn's old, she's new, and she's going to make the barn new again.
Also, Lee, I would love it if you made more watercolor videos!

Here is my entry for the "Old and New" Prompt this month. This particular picture adorns the last page of my sketchbook. Every month, as I near the end of my current sketch book and look to the next one, I realize that the old book has so much wisdom and stories within it, while the new one is a blank slate, ready to face what will come next. It's fitting that this is the last image in this book, as it will be retiring to the sketchbook shelf very soon.

It was recently my Grandmother's birthday (I call her GP) and so I'm dedicating this to her. She always likes to dress up as a witch for halloween. When I was little she would try and frighten me with her costume, but no matter how scary she was, I was never afraid of her. I think she will get a kick out of this particular picture.

@maureen Hey. Thanks for the nice words. Glad you like them. I use an ipad pro and procreate. I feel my workflow still needs improvement as I spend a lot of time with one image.

It's just one illustration but I feel like I leveled up this month working on this and from it came an idea for a picture book that I hope to expound on about this young frog discovering books and being transported into adventures with his dad. I plan on sinking myself into the illustrating and writing classes to make that project happen. I'm so thankful for the courses here at SVS and the kind people who took time to offer advice as I worked.

03/2018 OLD & NEW. I imagine a lot of people tomorrow morning will be rushing to get to church! This is my entry "Last minute alterations before church." -iPad with procreate.
I scratched an earlier idea with an old dog on a motorized stair lift. I'm glad I changed it LOL. Good Luck all, and Happy Easter-TA
