I think my favorite art changes every so often as I am exposed to new things and develop as an artist, but one I keep coming back to is the end pages image N. C. Wyeth painted for Treasure Island. I just love the limited color palette, the movement and storytelling. 👌

I remember seeing the well known sepia drawing of a child's face in art class in high school by Peter Paul Rubens. I studied every line and curve..just loved the roundness and muted color done in simple pencil. I just found it again the other day on pinterest and don't think I'd ever realized that it was a rendering of his son, Nicolaas Rubens. No wonder its full of magic and soul.

Thomas Gainsborough portraits. They have a movement when you look at them in real life.

I forgot to put mine, I have two that have stuck in my head forever. The Mice and the ham from Beatrix Potter Two Bad Mice there’s something about that ham! and The Blind Girl by Millais. 2_1526320848195_6B29552D-7615-4F36-A543-2E16E42DEF9F.jpeg 1_1526320848195_6D199DA6-53B4-4511-BCE2-009D8048EB84.jpeg 0_1526320848192_D8A9D7B6-D071-4793-BE56-3FCDF456EFE4.jpeg

@rachy , the ham in that Beatrix Potter image used to fascinate me, too! There's just something about it.

I can't pick one image, but these two are some of my favorites:

                          NC Wyeth:

And Howard Pyle. He died before he could finish this image...I wish my finished pieces could look this good:

I love all sorts of art but John Buscema's black and white Conan art holds a special place for me0_1526336162501_Bucema art.jpg

@twiggyt Yay! Great to meet someone else who has a thing about the Ham! I’ve been trying to figure out what the thing about it is, any ideas?

Also thanks for introducing me to Howard Pyle, he’s wonderful!

I can't say I have an out and out favourite though.

@rachy I think it always seemed so shiny and perfect, and that's why I liked it. I've never seen a real ham look that nice - perhaps she captured the true essence of ham or something.
