@marsha-kay-ottum-owen Cute mushrooms, I like that they all have different patterns on their tops 🙂

It would be nice if the soil was darker, maybe even consider extending the speckle shadowing effect you have going on?

@lei Yes, I agree. I was going to make it darker and the adding of speckling is a good idea. Thanks!

@marsha-kay-ottum-owen Hi Marsha, this is looking great! I love all the mushroom people and their activities. I do think that more contrast would make them pop. I'm still learning to be better at values, but I think I'd make the trees darker, probably the soil as well. Maybe more saturated color on the people? Right now, it all looks like the same value.

Your piece is one of my favorites I've seen so far. 🙂

In case it's helpful, these photos seemed so show the darkening of the foreground in a setting like yours.

Thanks for sharing your process with us!

I think this could perhaps be improved with a Beatrix Potter treatment. Darker, more contrasted details and line-work for the foreground elements, less contrast and lighter line-work in the background.

@tessaw I'm going to try that sometime! I just got back on and missed your post. I am headin gout on a new life on Sunday morning and doing lot of prep. I did darken it up a bit but that's it for now. I think I will make a beatrix potter style painting on the road! It will be a perfect time to do it. Thanks for the idea!

@kathrynadebayo Thank you. I did darken the ground up but I hadn't seen this. Just got back on today and already put it in the prompt page. I am moving on Sunday morning so, won't be able to make anymore changes. Thank you for taking the time to look over my work 🙂 I will be able to look back on this for the next time 🙂

@eli Thank you! I did darken things up a tad more. I put it in the prompt thread already and I also gave it away to my friend so she scanned it for me at work so I could pu tit in 🙂 Moving on Sunday and don't have room to save my physical artwork.

@lei I did extend the speckling and darken things up a bit, especially the dirt. It's in the thread now. Thanks for your input. Hopefully next time I will be less distracted and able to spend more time on the prompt.

Turned out great! I think scanning it also made a big difference on your presentation!
