Hi there, I'm Kelly Bixler and I just thought I would drop in and introduce myself. I am relatively new to the SVS classes (I started a few months ago) and completely new to the forum. I'm in the learning process at the moment, but my goal is to work freelance in book illustrations.
I live in the seacoast area of New Hampshire and I have just been getting back into art this year. I never went to art school, actually I have biology degrees, and I have had a bunch of different versions of my life
- the lab tech, scientist, teacher, and now I'm working on getting back to art. Its been a long time, but it's probably what I should have been doing all along. So I have had to work on re-learning how to draw. It's funny how it can be like re-learning how to ride a bike. There are things that I thought I had forgotten how to do completely, until suddenly they snap back into my head. I never had a formal art education though, so there are still big gaps. On the plus side, I don't know how I would have ever put this much effort into learning anything a decade or so ago. And living life certainly helps.So, hopefully I'll be on here a bit and I look forward to getting to know everyone here.
