lol very nice. Though I think you would get more out of the dedication
by using it to apply knowledge learnt.

Not sure I know what you mean?

I love this little guy. I cannot get enough of him. 🙂
Do you have already an idea, where this will go? Any ideas about the final technique?

I've been using these characters for many many years. Years ago I had some images licensed for various purposes and was doing childrens publications illustration work. The licensing company was tiffing me and the ADs at the publishing houses all left and the work dried up!

I'm trying to find my way back into obtaining work.

Great looking work Jim. Thanks for posting.

I'm very impressed by your dedication to drawing and hitting it this many days is amazing!

I'd like to offer a critique if you don't mind since you said you were hoping to get back in the industry. All your characters are very charming, but, they dominate your portfolio. What I'm trying to say here is that it looks like a world you have built and are comfortable in. Problem is that if a client doesn't want that particular look, they will pass you by.

The characters you are drawing look almost like they are from a more Sunday comic strip than what is currently being done for illustration (especially children's book work). What I would recommend is updating your look a bit in terms of media and maybe venturing into new territory so you can start to diversify your portfolio a bit more than what is already there. Take some time to get out and see what work is being hired right now. I'm not recommending you chase down a particular "flavor of the month style" but just sort of soak it in and see where you want your work to go.

I'm a huge fan of doing work everyday. I'm not a huge fan of doing work everyday if the work isn't pushing you forward. Deciding on the direction of your work, and careful analysis is worth it's weight in gold. You know you can draw so I doubt doing more drawings daily is what you need. That kind of assignment is great for beginning students because they just don't have the mileage that you already do.

I would highly recommend doing some copies of some other artists to get out of your universe for a bit. I'm a big fan of this type of work and do it often. It opens up insights you would have never seen otherwise.

Hope that offers some options for ya. I'm a fan of your work and can't wait to see more! : )

Brilliantly said @Lee-White - I'm currently getting past a similar hump in which everything was in one style, but I went back to life drawing multiple times a week and looking at more art books and hunting down different people's approaches. Sometimes it just takes yourself to kick your own ass for a bit and mix things up.

Fantastic work though @jimsz and I can safely say I've not drawn every single day for nearly 2,000 days! Major props!
