March Prompt "Book Cover"
-
Here is my entry for this month. I decided to go with an old favorite.
Also...please indulge my sweet 5 year old as I upload her entry for this month too. She saw me working and wanted to enter an illustration of her own story. Itโs the story of a magical bedroom where when the big chandelier turns off the animals become real and the room becomes a forest. The title had about 100 words and I am not able to remember it. Annie Jones age 5.

My interpretation for "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate Di Camillo. @yarartstudio -
This prompt was really fun to do! I love seeing everyone's beautiful cover renditions.
-
@JessicaClark thanks! Yea the portrait is traditionally done in watercolor and then toucheded up in photoshop

-

Hi, everyone! Hereโs my entry for this month.
You might have seen my The Little Prince wip earlier this month but I set that project aside because it was too complex. It had too much metaphors and i was hitting a road block. I imagine I could make it work in time but time is not on my side lately I decided to go with The Paper Bag Princess at the last minute instead.
I especially like this book because of itโs brave and clever protagonist. This is just a simple piece. I finished it in a few hours and its concept is fairly simple as well. However, I like how it turned out. Though plain, i think I can still add it to my portfolio. i hope also like it. Thanks! -
@JennyJones I love her story concept - I think it would be fun for you with her permission to create a scene from very imaginative story.
-
Thanks for letting me resubmit my file in RGB mode, Chip.
Tip: If you submit your JPG in CMYK mode, your image will end up with faded color. It was driving me nuts last night.
-
@Stephanie-Hider Oh, thanks Love yours as well.Nice composition idea, colours and funny characters!
-
@JessicaClark Thank you Jessica!
-
@Johanna-Kim I submitted my jpeg in the same format as you did. I have been lamenting about how it looked dull as compared to the way I created it but could not figure out why. Iโll have to remember this for next time.
-
@JennyJones I like your cover for March. Is that the one that came out faded? If so, you should resubmit it before Chip does his photo album. Nothing's worse than spending hours/days on something and not having it look the way it should in the end due to a technical glitch.
-
@sigross Yeah, you captured that feeling spot on!
-
@Johanna-Kim Yes thatโs the one. Iโll try the resubmit. Thanks for the compliment too!
Update: it looks like what really happened with the โ dull โ look is that I left a Layer turned on that I should not have. The rest of the color looks pretty right on. I would be submitting an edited illustration if I resubmitted, so I will leave it ( and pay better attention next time. ). Thank you anyway.
