      hello

I have been sending postcards to publishers for a few months now. I primarily use the SCBWI book to find available publishers. I was wondering if anybody had alternative methods to find publishers, search engines etc.,

      thanks for any help

@Ryan1106 I plan to use that book, look up publishers and see if they list their assistant editors on the site. Then send out additional postcards to them.

@Ryan1106 Sometimes I just go to book stores, look up children's books I like and take note of the publishing house. I look over the credits page, sometimes they will name the editorial staff as well. Then I look them up online! Sending your work our is important, but choosing publishers that do projects in you vein is key and being at least a little familiar with that publisher's work also doesn't hurt πŸ™‚

I started with SCBWI's list and used linkedin to edit and add to it. I also looked inside book jackets to see who publisehd recent books I liked and used linkedin to figure out the office addresses for the art directors (and sometimes names if they werent on the book jacket). I'm not super active on linkedin but it was great for fleshing out my mailing list. So far only one card has come back undeliverable.

The Children's Writers & Artists yearbook is a great source to find publishers, but I think it only includes the UK, but might be worth a look anyway if you're looking internationally πŸ™‚
