beautifully done! love the light!

I agree with @JajaJulie about making the workshop more festive. Warm it up a little bit in that corner and you could add a small indication that the reindeer are sick like a blanket and tissues. Other than that I think it's beautiful!
-
@Dulcie I love that elf's face! Amazing job on the train and rockets!
-
@Joy-Heyer @Naroth-Kean Thank you
@gimmehummus Thanks for your thoughts - I will work on giving a more festive feel to Santa's house
@bharris Thank you! I would be so excited to be on a flying train, so I thought he should definitely look happy
-
Very nice love the reindeer their faces are my favorite part.
-
That's it game over, I am throwing the towel in! This is a great piece! It turned out great.
-
Beautiful work! I love the way you painted the train and your sky is amazing!
-
Really nice! You have some beautiful color work in this piece.

@Stephanie-Hider Thank you!
@Chip-Valecek Aww thanksThough don't throw the towel in, keep going!
@Thrace-Shirley-Mears @Rob Smith Thank you
@Damien-Rambacher Thanks, glad you like the watercolour in it. I'm working on a new version with that corner more festive, hopefully will be better -
I like how I can really feel the weight of those train cars--if that makes sense
-
Been working on an updated version with a more festive feel….my own critique of the previous version was that, apart from the red train, it was a very saturated blue all over, and one thing Will Terry said in the Mixed Media course was that if the colour is saturated absolutely everywhere, it doesn’t help the viewer focus on the things you want them to. Thinking about that, I de-saturated the snow area in the bottom foreground a bit.
Also, the colour scheme overall was like this:
But when I originally imagined the colour palette it was more like this:
So I worked on that too, making the background more green, re-working the presents to match, and refining stuff.
Hope it’s an improvement….I’m running out of time to work on it now, so to me it’s pretty much done, but any suggestions appreciated!

@Dulcie I didn't think you could make this image any better but you certainly did! Its lovely and I like the addition of the wreath, lights and warm light in the added window!! I think it would be really nice if there was a wreath on the front of the train too. Really beautiful work, I think you will be one of the chosen ones!!
-
@Thrace-Shirley-Mears One of the "chosen ones" sounds quite lofty.
-
Not trying to make your life harder, but shouldn't there be a light on the front of the locomotive? You could take out the moon, and make the front your primary light source, but perhaps that's too much work to do with only 9 days left.
-
@Thrace-Shirley-Mears I really appreciate your positive thoughts, thank you
Yes maybe it would be nice to have a wreath on the front of the train, thanks for the suggestion. And, I know you didn’t mean the way you phrased your comment in anything other than a positive way. Though, I’m not eligible for another year anyway…so really this entry is just for fun
-
@Dulcie I'm sorry I completely forgot that you have already won once and it was my favorite. Well nice work for you then!
-
@Bobby-Aquitania Yes you're right, there should be a light on the front. I did think about that before, but it didn't suit the composition with the other light sources I wanted so I left it out. At one point when I was thinking of adding the fairy lights, they were going to be wrapped round the funnel thing at the top, and I thought they could light the way... I also wondered, maybe there could be a third elf sat up there at the front, arms wrapped round, holding a light & looking delighted...but again would that be too much to include.. But fair points, thanks for pointing them out
