Right, so hello! :)

Hello artists!
I've been following Will Terry on YouTube for about a year now, and was really excited to see the new SVS site and forums. It's awesome so many people are posting.
My intro: I loved to draw as a kid, but didn't seriously consider that art could be anything more than a hobby until I started taking classes as an adult two years ago. I enjoyed them so much that I almost applied to attend a local art school this fall, but reconsidered when I saw that the professors were barely at the rudimentary drawing level. xD
So, I'm continuing to study online in my free time, and in person whenever I can. I've taken classes in ink, watercolour, figure, and perspective. Still pretty new at everything, but what a difference good instruction makes! One of my teachers was trained at an atelier, and her classes helped improve my observational skills a lot.
Currently I'm seeking to learn how you go about making that transition from observation to imagination. I'm hoping to start working through the SVS Illustrating Children's Books Workbook soon, to begin exploring this. I'd also like to learn digital. I have a tablet, but I'm still in the very beginning stages of learning to use it properly.
Here are a few examples of my student work I have on the computer atm, all from life or reference photos:
Nice to meet all of you!

Dude, very nice!! My only suggestion is to take the "mastering perspective" class. Great course for those buildings drawings...

I love your style.

Hello and Welcome! That is great you are seeking outside resources other than school. To help on your quest for knowledge, I would like to recommend a book for you. It is called Creative Drawing & Illustration by Peter Gray. I think it is a great book that will help push drawing techniques and developing fantastical ideas. Check it out!

Reid Smith --Thanks! I am absolutely going to take in the perspective class now that I've subscribed!
Steve Young -- The drawings on toned paper were assignments for Peter Han's Dynamic Sketching class, so I am using the sketching style he teaches. I'm not experienced enough to take credit for the styles I draw in yet.
Joslyn Schmitt -- Thanks for the warm welcome! And for the book recomendation. Looks like it gets you to try new drawing styles? Sounds interesting.
