Does anyone no of him?
-
I was looking for a pumpkin soup recipe in a quirky little cookbook last night. It was published in 1977. It had some cute illustrations. So for the fun of it I googled the illustrator's name. I love to do things like that. The guy has had a wonderful career. I should maybe know his name, but I don't. Do any of you know of him? His name is Joe Yakovetic? I sent a message to him to see if this was him and then I found a signature that matches the one on his website. So I do think it's him. This cookbook must have been really early in his career. That's whay I'm anxious to find out and to just let him know that I have this.

@deborah-Haagenson Sounds interesting!
Just searched him, Joe. There are pumpkins there.
You know, he could've changed his signature.I have about 5 different ways to sign something. It's frustrating!
-
@jsnzart His signature looks the same believe it or not! I only see part if it on my cookbook, but it's pretty distinctive. I know, I saw pumpkins on his Work menu too. Isn't that ironic?
-
@deborah-Haagenson Sounds like fun! It might be him.
Love to see those illustrations. You can post them here, I'm sure. -
@jsnzart The files are .jpg, taken from my phone, but are megabytes big. I will bring them into Photoshop in a little while and see if I can reduce the file sizes.
-
@deborah-Haagenson Great. Just make them at 1000 pixels at the most length.
Don't worry about the dpi. -
@jsnzart Here they are! The book is filled with more, but here are four. If you look at the bottom right of the colored page (the cover) you will see his signature, which looks to me to match the one on his website These are cute and everything, but I never expected to find an estalished artist, with such a long and wonderful career.
-
@deborah-Haagenson Here's the fourth with a clearer signature.
-
@deborah-Haagenson Definitely, that looks like his name.
And, nice illustrations. Right up my alley! I do stuff like that for my students.Thanks Deborah.
-
@jsnzart Thank you for responding to my posts and sharing in my excitement! I'll let you know if he responds to my email message - I contacted him from his website.
-
@deborah-Haagenson It's my pleasure, Deborah.
Thank you. It was fun.
Great! And good luck! -
@jsnzart Yakovetic responded to my message. Yes, he did do the illustrations in my cookbook. It was one of his first jobs, but I'm not sure it was the first. He was working at NBC in Los Angeles, his first job out of college he said. I don't know what that job was. It was through someone there that he got this. He said it was fun! The author was a popular television personality in CA and did some acting. His name was Geoff Edwards. Born in 1931. So that was fun to find out too. This quirky little cookbook that I've had since the late 70's, who knew! I'm going to print out his email message and keep it in my cookbook. He was very nice!
