I have an agent!

@Nyrryl-Cadiz Thank you Nyrryl! I noticed you are represented by them too, I hope you've had a good experience so far?
-
@ajillustrates Thank you!

@Annabishop hi! Yup, same agency!. The agents assigned to me are wonderful. I feel they really care about me. Unfortunately, Iβve been experiencing a dip in art jobs. Probably becuse of covid or Probably because my work is not that marketable. Iβve decided to work on my portfolio more. If my situaion still doesnβt change after a year, I think Iβll have to look for another agency.
Donβt be discourage by my experience tho. Maybe yours will be totally different from mine. And if you do choose to look for another agent, having been represented by Advocate would be a great addition to your CV.
Youβre also probably going to receive educational books at first and thatβll be a great addition to your portfolio.

@Annabishop Congratulations, that's so great!!

@Nyrryl-Cadiz If it means anything, I've been experiencing the same at Astound. When covid hit I was in the middle of a book with my agency and I finished it in June, but since then my agent hasn't found me anything new (despite usually emailing me a couple times a month with inquiries). It could be due to the regular lull in the summer, could be due to the pandemic, I don't know! But I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this

@Annabishop congratulations
. Thanks too for the pep talk because I've had some pretty low moments with my illustration career hopes recently π₯΄
I loved your dragonfly piece, very cute
Congratulations again -
Congrats! Thanks for sharing the motivation.
-
@NessIllustration thank you.

Congratulations! This is definitely a milestone achievement and definitely a confidence booster!
I've been with Advocate Art since June of this year and have had some projects come my way. All have been short timelines and starting pay, but that is expected when you're new to the industry. The agents there are super nice and approachable. I've been fortunate to get some high paying projects on my own so I'm hoping to leverage that to get better jobs from the agency once my current work load is completed.
I would encourage you to still look for work on your own as well by emailing your portfolios to publishers and even submit to any callouts for artwork that the agency may send along.
Best of luck and wish you a great experience!

@Annabishop Thanks for sharing and congrats!!!

Big Congratulations :-). Go celebrate!!!

@Nyrryl-Cadiz Thank you for your response Nyrryl! Sorry to hear that, I suppose it's hard to know for sure what's causing a dip in jobs but I'm sure it's not your brilliant work! I'm expecting to wait a little while before I'm offered anything through them. My main anxiety is that they don't find anything for me and I don't pass the 6 month trail period. I have no idea how often that happens, maybe I'm worrying over nothing

@NessIllustration Thank you Ness!

@Braden-Hallett Thank you Braden! Let's take over Advocate Art one SVS member at a time haha
