Congratulations @Annabishop !!! Great news and well done you!
-
@Annabishop congratulations
. Thanks too for the pep talk because I've had some pretty low moments with my illustration career hopes recently π₯΄
I loved your dragonfly piece, very cute
Congratulations again -
Congrats! Thanks for sharing the motivation.
-
@NessIllustration thank you.

Congratulations! This is definitely a milestone achievement and definitely a confidence booster!
I've been with Advocate Art since June of this year and have had some projects come my way. All have been short timelines and starting pay, but that is expected when you're new to the industry. The agents there are super nice and approachable. I've been fortunate to get some high paying projects on my own so I'm hoping to leverage that to get better jobs from the agency once my current work load is completed.
I would encourage you to still look for work on your own as well by emailing your portfolios to publishers and even submit to any callouts for artwork that the agency may send along.
Best of luck and wish you a great experience!

@Annabishop Thanks for sharing and congrats!!!

This is awesome! Congrats

Congratulations! Wow, you guys are getting to be quite a team!

Big Congratulations :-). Go celebrate!!!

@Nyrryl-Cadiz Thank you for your response Nyrryl! Sorry to hear that, I suppose it's hard to know for sure what's causing a dip in jobs but I'm sure it's not your brilliant work! I'm expecting to wait a little while before I'm offered anything through them. My main anxiety is that they don't find anything for me and I don't pass the 6 month trail period. I have no idea how often that happens, maybe I'm worrying over nothing

@NessIllustration Thank you Ness!
-
@Braden-Hallett Thank you Braden! Let's take over Advocate Art one SVS member at a time haha
-
@Jeremy-Ross Thank you so much Jeremy!
-
@Judy-Elizabeth-Wilson Thank you Judy!!
-
@Coley Thank you! We all need a pep talk sometimes. I totally understand but I think you're doing great! You've been in the top 16 two times in a row, right? - not too shabby mate!
-
@Chris-W @j-sienkowski @eriberart @LauraA @xin-li Thank you guys!!
-
@Neha-Rawat Thank you Neha!
I'm trying to manage my expectations about what kind of work I will get through the agency and how much. It's great you've been able to find big projects by yourself! Thank you for the advice, I know I could be a lot more proactive about approaching clients myself. I find cold emails tricky to write. I'm not always sure how to strike the balance between being concise and polite/friendly. But I will give it a go! Thanks again -
Congratulations!
So awesome that so many SVS members are being signed by them
I've had my eyes on them for a good while now but haven't had the guts to submit my portfolio yet haha -
@Annabishop yes, that made me feel good
. Itβs definitely a long haul to become a professional illustrator and I think the ones who stay in it despite the self-doubt are the ones who eventually get somewhere. But itβs hard to do that. I guess itβs paying the dues ina way. Congratulations again
-
@Annabishop with your work, Iβm confident they can find you something. Itβll most probably an educational job with little pay but itβs a good way to get your feet wet. But thatβs my current fear tho. I think advocate is too keen on hiring artists and assigning them low-paying jobs instead of actually finding them trade book gigs. Of course these are just my assumptions and perhaps things would be different if there was no pandemic.
