@davidhohn Too funny, I found these videos last week! Awesome stuff. The samples showcased are timeless. The ripple effect of inspiration is everywhere in these videos. I've been interested in finding a DVD copy for my personal library.

@Dima-Eichhorn The Art Prof videos are a good resource. Particularly the "Copyright: Ask a Lawyer" that you directly linked.

That said, before anyone puts too much stock in this channel I also watched this video
        https://youtu.be/gCjW1T-JHUE "Inspiration vs Plagarism".

Unfortunately this one should also have been done in conjunction with an IP attorney. These two teachers offer some questionable/misleading definitions and reach conclusions that could get an illustrator facing legal action(s) if applied to their professional practice.

@davidhohn Thank you for this information. Actually, I find the opinion regarding Inktober( in the linked video) a little bit misleading too. Anyway, I dont want to say that it is bad channel but we as a listeners must always ask ourselves about the truth in what we hear.
Another podcast I've just started on YT and which i find interesting is Vasperism.

@davidhohn When I travelled to England sometime back I went into the woods inspired Winnie the Pooh but knew little to none about E. H. Shepard. He made work into his 80's, and write and illustrated a few of his own books -encouraging.

@Dima-Eichhorn totally agree about Art Prof video.
And I'm not familiar with Vasperism. Is that a podcast or a youtube video channel?

@davidhohn I agree with you on ArtProf. That said, their audience is very young (teenagers who aimed at studying in an Art School) and I find it great that they run several videos about plagiarism / copyright / etc. as it raises awareness early in their art journey what the legal and business environment is when your art becomes a career. The take over of the videos is more about asking oneself the question "is what I am doing right?" than answering it at this stage

@Julia Good point! I hadn't really considered their target audience.

@Tom-Shannon I would buy a copy of a book that contains the same information. I was really drawn by the images in the video content, I felt I would need to really set time to google the artists that mentioned in the videos, and study the art.

The problem with these videos is they are way too interesting so I can not have it on while painting :-).

@xin-li I've found the same problem! They've become my lunchtime "break" as I need to actually watch the videos!

@davidhohn It is a podcast, but also as a YouTube channel. I watch her there. I saw her in Jump into the studio session here in SVS for the first time.

@Dima-Eichhorn mentioned a podcast/Youtube by Vesper Stamper, an SVS teacher, but had a typo in her post. It's called Vesperisms: the Art of Thinking for Yourself. I haven't listened to it but am interested because I liked her SVS class so I looked it up and thought I'd post the title for others who may want to take a look.

The unsung heroes series is so good! I started to watch it on my phone during my lunch break but get frustrated by the tiny screen. I am going to watch it again on a big screen. There is such diversity in styles, it is very inspiring!
I don't know half of the artists, and I am happy to hear the story of the other half.
Thank you again very much @davidhohn for sharing it!

@xin-li I'm in the same boat. For sure, way too interesting to be used as background noise. Overall, before photography really took hold, historically, illustrators were treated like total rock stars! One can only hope history will repeat itself:-)
