Learning to Story Board
-
Hey I'm currently trying to self teach myself StoryBoarding, with hopes of getting into the industry. I'd like to get into the animation side, but I'm willing to learn as much of the discipline as possible. I have a few questions if the group doesn't mind.
-Is there any exercises you know of to help build a portfolio?
-Should I aim for freelance or a studio
-Is 25 too old for an internship?

requirements for a portfolio on character animation
10 mistakes to avoid when making an animation portfolio
Animation school portfolio requirements-Should I aim for freelance or a studio
A studio will teach you how to work with a team, it's also a steady paycheck, which freelance is NOT.

You're only as old you feel. I'm 50, been consciously creating art since the 4th grade. Went to art college, became an art teacher. Went from traditional portraits and watercolors to fully digital since 2003. Been knee deep in self taught concept art for over 5 years.
My point with all that is, a) never stop, b) get in the door as soon as you can, and c) don't call it an internship, call it a working internship. You're worth something, even if you're still learning. And being an intern is forever. You should always strive to learn something new. Good luck with your portfolio.

@Matthew-Brown Hey Matthew - Schoolism has a class on storyboarding with Kris Pearn - have not watched it yet - their classes are excellent too - they have a subscription model now (i helped with the kikstarter for that :)) - i think that a lot of folks here follow Will/Jake/Lee and Bobby Chiu and the great folks he has put together on the Schoolism site (i found Schoolism through Will Terry's Blog so i don't think he will mind the plug for Schoolism...i hope)
