February 3rd Thursday. Love is a teddy bear.
-
Just about done with the drawing phase for this piece. Still a few more things I'd like to add, but I'll save that for the painting stage. Gonna start on that tomorrow.
-
Love it!! Do you draw with a cintiq or a just a wacom tablet? Can't wait to see it in color!
-
Lovely! I'm shure the final result will be outstanding.
-
Beautiful Shinji
-
Love it!
-
That looks awesome!
-
So sweet! Well done!
-
Beautiful! Such a lovely composition.
-
@Biscuits For now I use a wacom tablet. I'm hoping to get a cintiq sometime down the road. I've never tried one but from what I hear, it's a pretty useful tool.
-
@shinjifujioka This is really nice Shinji! You create very inviting images that make the viewer want to know the story - great piece!
-
You are amazing and inspiring!! What a wonderful piece you have created!!
-
Great image. Can't wait for it to be coloured.
-
This is awesome.
Just an idea to push the "love" theme. What if the little girl didn't have any rain gear? That is, she is giving her teddy bear the only protection from the rain even though that means she is getting soaked (obviously you'd have to paint it raining--which you may have already planed to do).
Just a thought.

@mattramsey I really like the idea and I think it would definitely pull at the heart-strings a little more. I will have to give it some deep thought...but chances are I'll stick with the raincoat since that was one of the main things that I wanted to include in the image. I knew I wanted a little girl in a raincoat in the rain when I started the image. I think raincoats are just so cool. And little raincoats have a cute factor all its own. Little raincoats, a pair of rain boots and an umbrella. That's how rainy days as a child should be spent.
But again, really great idea. Right when I read your comment, I spent about five minutes just staring at the sketch and mulling over it. And I'll mull over it some more.
-
I just love it. LOVE it.
-
Wow. This is really beautiful work...I hope you'll share more process pics with us - what a treat!
-
@shinjifujioka agree that raincoats are cool. it could be turned into a cute regular coat?
but it wouldn't be the same.
even if it was yellow.if you do decide to go without the raincoat (which isn't a must) I'd ditch the hood to really sell the idea of "exposure." Yes, the hood is very nice but if you are already sacrificing the raincoat you might as well push the idea as far as you can within reason.
EDIT: Compromise: Try a version with no raincoat for the 3rd Thursday piece and one with for your portfolio. Just another idea.
-
I think @mattramsey makes an excellent suggestion, and I like the compromise idea of one version for 3rd Thurs and another for your portfolio, if you're really keen to paint a girl in a raincoat. Your overall picture and drawing skills are just so lovely - it's really so nice! ...but in terms of being competitive for the 'love' prompt I think that would improve it. I mean, I get that all children love their toys...but if you love something so much that you would sacrifice your own comfort for theirs, that is a really strong love indeed...and that transcends the idea of a child loving a toy.
-
@mattramsey @Dulcie I like the two version idea. I'll give it a shot and see if I can do it justice

Wow! It's really beautiful!!!
