MARCH CONTEST: Fairy-Tale Traveler
-
Meet Maggi Grandiflore! My entry for this month's challenge.
-
My submission character design of Nena Broadfist!
Sheβs a sure minded, stouthearted young girl who possesses the scarlet amulet, allowing her to harness the power, strength and knowledge of her ancestors.
When sheβs using the amulet, the face paint and headdress appear. They are inspired by the Taino people. -

My story is about a fairy whose village is under attack from froggy invaders. She has to travel across the island - through frog territory - to the ancient lemon tree. Her village needs the juice from the lemons to ward off the frogs. Will she make it in time?
(just noting I just edited the file so it's a JPEG now) -
Here is my entry: Ham Piper. Good luck to all!
-
The orphan Mercy and her little brother Davon make a dangerous journey through the Wastelands to seek help for their village before it's too late! Here's my entry!

-
@Jeremiahbrown This is awesome! So beautifully done and so much detail and character in each image. And I love the basset hound squeezed into his little truck.
-
@lizardillo Love him! So many great details and loved seeing your progress, thanks for sharing that. Bee-utiful! (Sorry couldn't resist)
-
@Tiffany-Thomas Thank you so much! Yours is amazing! My first thought when I saw it was, "Well if I do manage to get into the top 16 I hope I'm not in her bracket!" Haha.
-
@willicreate Thank you for the kind words! The water crossing pic was my favorite to illustrate!
-
@Jeremiahbrown Hehe, I didn't plan on doing a second one but drew an egg with the lasso tool and kind of went with it turning it into this. I've left the lasso tool unused for too long and decided to use it as the primary drawing tool to get into the habit of using it. It was a fun exercise! It forces you to think in terms of shape vs line.

@ruth Thanks so much! I was a big fan of Columbo (the long running Peter Falk show that,... most people don't know what I'm talking about do they, haha) and wanted to get his dog to join my Traveler but knew he couldn't make the journey without the cart. I love your traveler! I love the addition of the journal in the corner! Very smart!

@K-Flagg Beautiful! The April O'neil vibes put a big smile on my face
