Going to start on mine today! Hopefully I can get it done in time. Love these turnarounds. I need them in my folio! If we can suggest another topic for the future, I really need to practice nonfiction illustration Whether that be a historical figure or event. I haven't seen one of these yet!

Does anyone know if we can include some text with our images? As I'm coming up with ideas, I kind of have to come up with the basics of a larger story to give the character context. When I present the character design I'd also like to have a short synopsis to give some context as to why the character looks the way they look. Or, are we to just let the images themselves stand alone???

Maybe it's up to us? In that case, is anyone else planning to include a bit of story with their images?

I'm including text. I'd say if if the text compliments the image, you're probably good. If the text is required reading to understand the design, then not such a good idea.

@Braden-Hallett Yeah, it was mainly to set up the story a bit, so that when you see the character you know what kind of world and situation they are in. (I know we have the basic story of goblins invading a village, but since fantasy isn't so much my thing and in an effort to differentiate I'm considering pushing the strict interpretation of the story.)

@drawnbyshawn I agree with @Braden-Hallett your character should be able to stand alone but I don’t think a small amount of text would hurt as long as not taking away from the illustration. Maybe one of the guys could elaborate on this? @Lee-White ? @Jake-Parker ? @Will-Terry ?

@drawnbyshawn, @miranda-hoover made it into the 16 for the yeti character design with small notes on the page. You can see her entry from December as an example of text notes working for the judges.
