Spring would be better for me. But don't put too much weight in my preference. I have yet to locate a science lab nearby...
Oh @leontine, I agree it would be wonderful to squeeze in Bologna Bookfair too. I may be good for either really depends on exact dates and mulah.

The trip sounds amazing, I would love to go...unfortunately though I don't know how I could wangle enough cash and childcare to make it possible 
I'm assuming the price stated includes flights from the USA...do you think there could be an option to book everything except the flights, for those of us in Europe already?
Thanks for the comments everyone. I will try to get some of the questions answered. I know that it will be cheaper for some who live on the east coast. The price I listed was traveling from the west coast which is the farthest.
I will be doing a sketching on location video hopefully this summer and this trip will follow. I'm guessing it will most likely be spring.
I'll let you know more as I get information.
