Do companies care if you also draw NSFW?

Of course, don't put nsfw in your portfolio.

But would a children's publication company or whatever, care to look at what else you have online?

And would they still hire you if you also did anything nsfw before?

I make comic strips for fun, and if a punchline requires drawing boobies or something, I'll still do it. But is that gonna mess up my chances at ever getting into this industry?

I'm not sure, but I feel like I've seen some artists who work in the children's market that also has some nsfw. A couple of examples: Maike Plenzke. She at least has a graphic novel with some nudity called Macha. She seems to do some midgrade book cover and magazine work. Annette Marnat also has some nudity in her work- she does concept work and children's books.

@Frost-Drive online lasts forever, that’s the problem. I don’t know if companies might have a problem with that. What I do recommend is that your nsfw work never be in any way connected to your children’s book work. Don’t include it in your portfolio, have a separate account for it, etc. My opinion is it’s playing with fire.

If you do it under the same name, it could be problematic. Lets say your name is credited in a children's book. Some kid liked the art so much that looks for you online and ends up finding some spicy stuff.
You should judge it yourself, is it ok for your target audience to find online the other stuff you do? It might be that you dont really have anything distasteful that shows by searching your name, but if you do... It might be wise to use a pseudonym.
