New here. Just have a some questions.

Hi, I'm watching the How to Draw Everything course, you know the first one in the curriculum. I'm just wondering about how long I should keep doing the exercises? You know, contour drawing, drawing straight lines, drawing cubes and such. That kind of essential practice.
For like 2 weeks? A month?What is your advice? How long did you do these exercises before moving onto something else?

@glen-mcleod I’m doing that class right now too. I’m going to dip back in and practice the perspective stuff tonight and then incorporate the lines and shapes into my general doodling when I can. It’s too boring to just do that stuff all the time. But it’s pleasant and relaxing to do as a warm up or when I’m on the phone or something.

@glen-mcleod Ditto what @buildalittle said. My thought is that initially you practice it until you feel ok about it, like your starting to get it and then continue on. But the important part is that you don't ever really stop those basics you just build up from them. Keep using them. As you work on your next step and maybe forget or are struggling with certain lines or shapes revisit those exercises (or videos) to practice them again. Good luck!

I would suggest doing the exercises until you can do it without too much struggle. I don't think it's about a set number of days or hours of drawing so much. It's more so about prompting you to draw things (like a cube) however many times until it becomes more or less comfortable to do so. However, don't get caught up in trying to achieve perfection (otherwise you'll never move on to the next lesson/exercise).
When you feel okay about your abilities with one exercise; move on to the next. Also, if you're still unsure about whether you're ready to move on, feel free to post some of your exercises to get feedback on it. That always helps

Thanks for the advice It was all very helpful, I have an idea of how I should approach these exercises now.
