First Possible Commission Work -YAH!
-
Hi guys,
I have only once done a commission work and that was for a friend, the logistics were easy. This one comes through Instagram.
For those who do commissions can you please help me out with the steps I need to take, any tips, especially helps with the payment transaction and possible, depending on if they want a traditional original (which I work in) mailing/shipping concerns.
I appreciate your time and your experience, thank you so much, you are such a wonderful community.

@heather-boyd Awesome That is really exciting! Hopefully you don't have to worry about any scammy business but you might listen to this podcast for ideas.

If I remember right they talk about payment methods to protect yourself from scams, or at least what not to do.

@mara-price I so should have seen this coming. I haven't been keeping up with Ness so I didn't know she had one. Thanks!

@frogpunzel Awesome, I have to limit myself on screens, for this reason I also don't get in on to listen to many the 3PP podcasts. Thanks.

I don't have any advice, but CONGRATS! Thats awesome Hope you get it all figured out. Can't wait to hear how it goes

Ohh fun! That's exciting!
I think my biggest tip would be religiously track your time. I'm not sure how you're doing the billing, but regardless of how you end up doing it, knowing how long it takes to do will be pretty important.
For payment I'd probably just do a paypal type transaction. If doing commissions was something you were going to do a lot more of, I'd suggest creating an account with Stripe and signing up specifically for ACH transactions if at all possible. I'm just so over these 3% transaction fees - I'm making everyone use ACH now and I've had zero problems.
Let us know how it goes

@annaaronson Thank you so much, and I will. I have a friend whose done a few however she works digitally so no need for mail/shipping. But she gave me some tips on that too.

@jdubz I really like the idea of commissions. It's also a step towards children magazine and publishing clients (working with clients). I feel like Bilbo -"I'm going on an adventure" (clip) lols. I would like to post what I learn for sure. Thanks.
